My visit to Tumen ended appropriately: with another scheduled power outage, so I couldn't make a final post from the cozy, non-time constrained, free internet at Trista's. But here I am, waiting up late at the Beijing hostel for my turn at the internet to bring you, dear readers, this:

I'm pretty sure this wasn't the official crossing. We didn't get a passport stamp or anything. And if they were to heavily guard their border, they would need their whole population and then some to keep watch.

My experienced experts have confirmed to me that the commie diplomat with the less leisurely stride sure is North Korean. Making us witnesses to their pleasure tour during a series of less leisurely border meetings. (I hear North Korea is finally disclosing their knowledge of kimchee and its endless health advantages to the Chinese. ie: SARS repellent, nuclear radiation block, etc. etc. etc.)

Kim-chee is awesome stuff! In addition to thwarting terrorism, neo-expressionism and capitalist-imperialism, it also makes for an excellent topic when conversing with hot North Korean chicks trying to escape with you and your passport. Trust me. Just flash your passport to them, start talking about kim-chee to them and they'll be all over you like flies on honey. Or like fries on kim-chee, in this case.
